Arrival of The Great Variety Show is the topic of the town. Who can resist the temptation of music, mirth and melody? The show ends with a challenge thrown from the stage for a shooting contest. Carefree Madan accepts it and wins the heroine Meena’s necklace. But he loses his heart. He trails her to the Company’s head office at Bombay where Mithoonal, a tramp, wants to way-lay him. But Madan is too smart for him. Reaching the theatre, Madan finds to his utter chagrin that Meena has left the concert along with Singh-the hero.

Disappointed he comes back to the hotel and is surprised to find Mithoomal to be his room-mate. They become friends, in search for Meena one day Madan stumbles against Rajni heroine of Rang Mahal Theatre, Rajni falls for him and invites him to witness her show. Madan is astonished to see Meena dancing there. His pleasure knows no bounds. But he is shocked to learn from Rajni that Meena is soon to marry Singh, Rajni prompts Madan to join the theatre while Mithoomal goads him to meet Meena and find out things for himself, Madan meets Meena and the clouds disappear. They become a sweet pair cooing love songs.

All along Singh has been noting all these developments with resentment. He too is in love with Meena. Rajni has also a possessive infatuation for Madan. Unanimity of their purposes bring Singh and Rajni together. They plot and the plotting shows quick results. Madan and Meena begin to hate each other. Madan even announces his engagement date with Rajni.

But we have forgotten our fatti Mithoomal. Don’t worry. He is playing his role in his own funny and fastidious way. But who can say now what will happen? Or who gets whom? Does Madan marry Rajni? If not her, whom does he marry? What happens to Singh? What does Mithoomal do?

The silver screen will solve all these riddles for you.
